Phang Nga Bay, Phuket

A country that is full of culture and adventure - Thailand is one of the most amazing destinations that you will ever visit in your life. There is something for everyone - from city nightlife to the luxurious beaches with crystal clear water, there are endless things to do.

Here is a list of the top 10 things you MUST do when you visit!

10.Get a Thai Massage

When you walk the streets anywhere in Thailand, you will not have to venture far before you come across places that offer Thai massages. While we did not get the chance to indulge in this, we met numerous other travelers who said just how amazing this experience was.

9.Walk Along Khao San Road in Bangkok

I would recommend visiting here at night where it would be more lively. The street is lined with bars, restaurants, and shops - but during midday cars are driving through and it seems rather dead. This is where many travelers will go for good vibes and fun after the heat of the day.

8.Explore the Night Bazaar in Chiang Mai

Found within the center of the city, the Night Bazaar spans several blocks. All sorts of shops packed with souvenirs and clothes line the sidewalks, and in the middle of it all there is an open-air building that includes even more stores as well as local food you can try.

7.Try the Local Food

Speaking of local food, people are not joking when they say to try the street food in Thailand. It is so good and can even put you out of your comfort zone depending on how brave you are (no I could not get myself to eat the fried centipedes or scorpions, but they are indeed edible!). I had my first ever Pad Thai at one of these stalls within a night market and it was sooo delicious (and spicy!).

6.Go Sea Cave Canoeing Around Phang Nga Bay in Phuket

Many boat tours that trek around Phang Nga Bay will offer cave canoeing in their itinerary. We highly recommend this as it was incredible to be led into the pitch darkness of a cave and come out to a secret cove amongst the islands. There are many that also give you the opportunity to snorkel and see the sea-life firsthand.

5.Visit James Bond Rock/Island

The main attraction of Phang Nga Bay would be James Bond Rock or James Bond Island. It will likely be fairly crowded with other tourists, but it is a must-see view for sure and worth the hassle. You are also free to walk around the island and explore.

4.Go on a Sunrise Boat Tour in the Phi Phi Islands

Nothing is better than witnessing a beautiful sunrise on a secluded beach. This was another all day boat tour (where we also got to snorkel, enjoy local food, jump off our boat to swim, AND see monkeys) that was worth the money. I've seen many different tours that are offered and it seems they all tend to have full-packed itineraries, so be sure to do your research so you can do all that you want to with your day!

3.Get Lost Amongst the Many Temples and Learn the Culture

Everywhere you go in Thailand will have temples. From the urban areas like Bangkok where temples are around almost every corner to Chiang Mai where they can be found at the top of mountains, be sure you visit at least a few of them to see the history behind the country.

2.Watch the Sun Set from Doi Suthep

Speaking of temples at the top of the mountains, this is where you can find Doi Suthep within Chiang Mai. With the center being fully golden, it is a beautiful contrast against the night sky and seems surreal. Not only that, but here you will find a gorgeous view of all of Chiang Mai's city lights.

1.Visit an Elephant Sanctuary

One of the best days of my life was spent at an elephant sanctuary. Now, be sure you do your research and visit a place that actually cares for its elephants. Too many businesses abuse their elephants or let you ride them which is a HUGE no-no. But, there are others that actually care about their animals. One of these was Elephant Care Pride Sanctuary just a few hours from Chiang Mai. These people care so much for their elephants (who are rescues) and they are SO passionate about what they do. Here we had the amazing opportunity to not only feed the creatures; but hike alongside them in the forest, give them a mud bath, and swim in the river together with them! I will never, ever forget this day and I strongly encourage you to visit a place like this. You can learn so much about these beautiful animals and the conservation efforts surrounding them.
